I went to A&O Ball and Threw My Hands in the Air for 5 minutes. Here’s what I learned:

Hi everyone. I’m a music enthusiast — as in I enjoy a lot of different genres and I am very proud of my playlists. Even though I would describe my taste as borderline elitist (yes, I think TPAB is Kendrick’s best album) I still enjoy the occasional Kacey Musgraves, Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Bieber. But mostly, I have a specific taste that few people would understand, which is why I am the only person in my friend group who is now on A&O.

So, like any sensible music-head, I went to A&O Ball on Friday which featured Vince Staples. And boy, was he good. I was so fired up when he played “Norf Norf” and “745” and couldn’t help bopping my head like I was tripping balls on the Lakefill during the goddamn Whitney set at Dillo. I began to sway my body around — gently and in rhythm — and was honestly so impressed with the energy in the room. If I wasn’t so tired, maybe I would’ve even clapped my hands above my head!

As the set went on, Vince did this funny thing where he pretended he was disappointed in us and urged us to raise our hands high above our heads and “bounce.” I would play along for a couple of seconds, but after a while it got annoying. Lowkey, he was kinda hot, so I took a bunch of photos.

So, in conclusion, we Northwestern students fucking killed it and Vince loved us. I’m not sure if he’s going to make the playlist, but I fucked with his vibe for sure. If I had any advice to anybody reading: have an open-mind when it comes to music and just live life. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
