In an inspiring story out of Baltimore, MD, 27 year old Amanda Braun changed the course of her life in moments when she decided to not only don her boyfriend’s comforter as a cape, a la a demure rom-com lady, but to wear it all the way home and just kinda keep it.

“It started out simple. We had just finished having sex, so there was no way I was going to let my boyfriend of three years see me naked… I craved a jacket that says: this isn’t a jacket, it’s a comforter. And boom, just like that, the idea came to me: I’ll wear his entire duvet like they do in the movies,” explained Braun. “But then I didn’t take it off all day. I even wore it to work. I’m in marketing.”

But she didn’t stop there. “Once I wore his mattress out too, I realized I could get away with way more. So I just started wearing everything I wanted.” “I haven’t bought clothes in months. When I’m feeling lazy, I wear his groceries home,” she noted, while sporting his Keurig as a top hat.

To get a fuller picture of Braun’s heroic impact on the community, we spoke to her boyfriend’s neighbors. “Please stop wearing us like a cardigan,” commented a family of four, as they were paired with a cropped turtleneck and capris. In response, Braun replied, “Can you believe I got this cardigan for free? It talks! Oh fuck, I’m late for marketing.”

We tried to meet with Braun for a follow-up interview, but she was wearing a 40 story building—and naturally couldn’t enter our much smaller building. However, be sure to catch her walking in this year’s NYC fashion week, where she’ll be draped in an entire suburban neighborhood!

In a fashion week sneak peek, Vogue asked Braun who she’ll be wearing, to which she replied: “My boyfriend’s landlord.”
