Students Visit SHAPE’s Sex Shop Fair, But for a Friend
EVANSTON, IL - Gathering in the Norris Lake Room for SHAPE’s annual Sex Shop Fair, students from across campus examined and inspected a wide range of unique sex toys, but for a friend.
The fair, part of SHAPE’s Sexual Health Week, featured shops from around the city that sold everything from neon vibrators to detailed clitoris coloring books. Additionally, shop workers were available to answer any questions about sexual pleasure without judgement, which students readily took advantage of to selflessly put their friend’s pressing sexual concerns before their own.
When asked about the event, various workers noted the heartwarming display of selflessness by students who bought toys, lubes and pleasure-enhancers, all on behalf of their friends. “Everyone who visited really seemed to be looking out for each other,” said Stacy Brown, whose vendor Dick-fill-A sold rubber fisting mittens at the fair. “A young man just came up asked, for a friend, how he could convince his girlfriend to use the strap-on he just bought, for a friend, on him. How considerate is that?”
Another student browsing extreme BDSM kits said she looks forward to the Sex Shop Fair every year, adding that her friend can never make it and looks for items her friend would like. When asked about the anal hook and suspension cuffs she was carrying, she said her friend was stocking up for the miniature sex dungeon she has in the Tech basement. She quickly added that absolutely no one must know where it is because her friend does not want another disciplinary hearing about it.
SHAPE members expressed their satisfaction with the event, which they saw as important for fostering an open, sex-positive community where students can learn about a variety of sex-related topics on behalf of their friends.
