Student Stephanie Brown felt that year’s 4/20 was less magical than those of her childhood. “When I was a kid, I used to get so excited the night before 4/20 that I’d stay up until like 3 AM,” said Brown with a wistful sign. “4/20 Eve was a great time to lie to my parents about what I was going to be doing the next day, and buy Cool Ranch Doritos to leave out for my drug dealer Craig to thank him for all of his hard work.”

She lamented how politicized the holiday has become in recent years. “These days everyone’s all “legalize marijuana to stop the disproportionate jailing of minorities” and “I need to use marijuana medically to deal with my chronic pain…” Like, seriously? Get over it and stop ruining 4/20 for the rest of us.”

Brown said that the most important thing to remember was not to lose sight of what makes 4/20 so important. “I think that everyone forgets what the true meaning of 4/20 is: Skipping school, getting super high with your friends, then driving to McDonalds and taking a really long time ordering. To me, that’s what 4/20 should be all about.”
