Local Mother’s Tragic Death from Cancer Going to Make Great College Admissions Essay

WESTCHESTER, NY- After local woman Maureen Peterson passed away from a three year battle with terminal lung cancer,  guidance counselors confirmed Wednesday that her 18-year old son Eric Peterson was going to have an absolutely terrific college admissions essay. “I’m definitely getting into at least one Ivy, and I’m not talking about one of the fake ones like Cornell,” said Peters, adding that while he’s a solid student, having a dead mom is really going to help him stand out from the crowd of other similarly ranked applicants. “I think I’m going to write about how life is precious and how mom taught me to live life to the fullest, then throw something in about how her death has made me stronger and more resilient blah blah blah. You get the gist.” At press time, Peters’ toughest competition comes from a girl whose mom was paralyzed in a drunk driving accident, a boy whose dad died of a heart attack, and a legacy from Dartmouth.
